During the holiday I took my son our for a holiday dinner and something extraordinary happened at the restaurant, and it filled my heart with immense pride and joy. I want to share this incredible story with you, a story that speaks volumes about the kindness and thoughtfulness of young hearts.

As we enjoyed our meal at Arnette’s Chop House, I noticed my son, Darral, observing a table next to us. They seemed intrigued by my festive jacket, a signature piece I often wear as a fundraising auctioneer. What happened next was a beautiful surprise.

An Act of Spontaneous Generosity

At the end of our dinner, Darral approached the neighboring table and shared a little about me and my work. He explained that as an auctioneer, I frequently auction off my jackets for charity. Then, with a big heart and a grand vision, he offered to sell my jacket right there for a cause close to his heart.

A Meaningful Exchange

The response was heartwarming. As Darral started to auction the jacket off, the table next to us threw in $40 cash as they just wanted to be a part and then one of the patrons at the main table where Darral was auctioning, he was so moved by Darral's gesture that he put in as his bid to pay our entire bill, with the agreement that we would donate the equivalent amount to a charity of Darral’s choice.

Choosing to Make a Difference

And the story gets even better. Darral chose Rainbow Village as the beneficiary of this impromptu fundraising. This organization works tirelessly to support homeless children, a cause that deeply resonates with him. To add to the impact, Darral also contributed some of his own money to the donation making the total donation to $400.
