Creating a SAFE event during the Omicron surge
With the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant events across the country are concerned about how best to host their in-person events safely. It is important to take all factors into consideration. Here are a few considerations for how to proceed safely.
On-Site Protocols:
On-Site Testing: one way is to ensure that everyone attending and working your event has access to a free test, regardless of vaccination status, within hours of your event. These tests can be administered by your staff, on-site, and takes up to 15 mins for results.
Temperature Checks: Super easy to do and takes less than a second per-person.
Pre-Event PCR Tests: Create an incentive to have your supporters get a PCR test 48 hours prior to your event. Example: do a drawing for a free vacation for all guests that present a negative PCR test.
Require Proof of Vaccination: It’s not fool-proof but has proven to help as vaccines are effective in reducing rates of hospitalization and death. By requiring proof of vaccination, this helps to ensure your event doesn’t contribute to the spread of COVID.
Go Hybrid: make your event part in-person and part virtual so that all of your supporters can participate in their own comfort level.
Go Virtual: move your event to 100% online and stream your fundraiser. Yes, this is very 2020 we know :~)
OPTION 1: On-Site Protocols
In addition to Temperature Checks, PCR Tests, and Proof of Vaccinations organizations now are able to run their own quick and easy on-site rapid testing so to check that no one entering the venue has a positive test result. These tests can be administered by your staff and take up to 15 mins for results.
We recently connected with the Corona Recovery Fund (CRF) who helps organizations to secure testing kits. CRF is able to explain in detail the process of securing the Rapid Tests, which yield results within 15 mins. These are the tests vetted by healthcare professionals, ensuring that organizations receive quality equipment. Major event/concert companies such as LiveNation are using these for testing staff at their events. It goes without saying that if anyone is feeling sick that they should not attend the event.
If interested in learning more about these testing kits and procedures feel free to contact CRF.
